Community Services
Esri takes social responsibility as an integral part of its business. The company's enduring slogan "GIS: Serving Our World", and its actions over the years demonstrate this.
We, at Esri China (HK), also inherit this excellent corporate culture in caring our local community with the spirit of "To give is more blessing than to receive". We think that it is equally important to be a good corporate citizen as a good industry player. In recognition of our efforts in building a caring and harmonious society, Hong Kong Council of Social Services awarded Esri China (HK) the Caring Company Logo.
As a member of IT industry, our primary concern in community services is to bridge the digital divide. We promote the awareness of IT and GIS technology and make those technologies more accessible to the community as a whole, especially the disadvantaged group. Every year in November we hold local GIS Day, a worldwide event that aims to educate our younger generation the concept and use of GIS in daily life.
Esri China (HK) actively participates in a wide variety of community services including but not limited to:
- Technology awareness seminars and workshops;
- Internship scheme, sponsorship in research activities and mentorship program for tertiary students;
- Career talks and promotion of IT and geospatial industry and profession;
- Activities of industrial and professional associations;
- Fund raising activities for NGOs;
- Advisory bodies for government, tertiary institutions and NGOs; and
- Public affairs and administration.
